General Price List

Our basic service charge includes, but is not limited to, staff to respond to initial request for service; arrangeme­nt conference with family or responsible party; preparation and filing of necessary certificates and permits; shelter of remains; placement of obituary notices; planning of funeral arrangements; and coordination of service with cemetery, crematory, vault companies and others as required.  Also included in this charge are overhead expenses relative to our facility such as insurance, maintenance, and utility expenses, secretarial and administra­tive costs, and equipment and inventory expenses.

This fee for our basic services and overhead will be added to the total cost of the funeral arrangements you select. (This fee is already included in our charges for direct cremations, immediate burials, and forwarding or receiving remains.)
 

Except in certain special cases, embalming is not required by law.  Embalming may be necessary, however, if you select certain funeral arrangements, such as a funeral with viewing.  If you do not want embalming, you usually have the right to choose an arrangement that does not require you to pay for it, such as direct cremation or immediate burial.
 

Includes bathing, shaving, restorative art, special cosmetology, dressing, and casketing.  We do not have a beautician on our staff, however, we have some on call, fees vary.
 

Includes services of the funeral director and staff in setting up and supervising the funeral ceremony, supervision of committal or other disposition service, and setup and use of equipment and facilities during the funeral ceremony.
 

Includes services of the funeral director and staff in setting up and supervising the memorial service, supervision of committal or other disposition service, and setup and use of equipment and facilities during the memorial service.
 

(6) Services and Facilities for Funeral Service outside the Funeral Home

Includes services of the funeral director and staff in setting up and supervising the funeral ceremony, supervision of committal or other disposition service, and setup and use of equipment at another facility during the funeral ceremony.
 

Includes services of the funeral director and staff in setting up and supervising the funeral ceremony, equipment necessary to conduct funeral ceremony at the graveside.
 

Includes the first 35 miles of transportation between the funeral home and the cemetery.  Over 35 miles is charged at the rate of $2.50 per loaded mile.
 

Includes vehicle and services of funeral director or staff in transporting the remains and securing transit permits, for the first 35 miles of transportation.  Over 35 miles is charged at the rate of $2.50 per loaded mile.
 

Includes services of the funeral director and staff in setting up and supervising the visitation, guest registration, display of floral tributes, and private facilities for viewing and visitation.
 

Flower Car: Includes the first 35 miles of transportation between the funeral home and the cemetery plus coordination of loading and unloading of the van.  Over 35 miles is charged at the rate of $1.50­ per loaded mile.
 

(12) Casket Price Range

Caskets from $7395 to $695.  A complete price list will be provided at the funeral home.
 

(13) Outer Burial Container Price Range

Outer Burial Containers from $3995 to $725.  A complete price list will be provided at­ the funeral home.
 

(14) Forwarding Remains to another Funeral Home

This charge includes the removal of remains, basic services of staff, embalming, necessary authoriza­tions, and minimum shipping container and local transportation to Birmingham airport.  This charge does not include visitation, rites, or ceremonies prior to forwarding of the body.

B. With casket selected from our funeral home.

This charge includes temporary shelter of remains, basic services of staff and transportation of remains to cemetery or crematory.  This charge does not include visitation, rites or ceremonies.
 

This package may only be purchased with item 15 and includes viewing and visitation, Funeral/Memorial Services in church, chapel, or graveside plus flower car.
 

The charge for immediate burial includes removal of remains, local transportation to the cemetery, necessary authorizations, and basic services of staff.  This charge does not include the use of facilities and staff for any visitation or ceremony, public or private, prior to burial.

The charge for direct cremation includes removal of remains, local transportation to crematory, necessary authorizations, and basic services of staff.  This charge does not include the crematory fee or the use of facilities and staff for any visitation or ceremony, public or private, prior to the cremation

If you want to arrange a direct cremation, you can use an alternative container.  Alternative containers encase the body and can be made of materials like fiberboard or composition materials (with or without an outside covering). The containers we provide are corrugated cardboard boxes reinforced with wood.

Note: The crematory we normally use requires the body be in a "fixed rigid container with handles."  If you request a cremation and do not select a container acceptable to the crematory, we will endeavor to find a crematory that will accept your container.  However, we advise you that the transportation expenses to that crematory may be substantial.

Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home, Inc. makes no representations or warranties regarding caskets, outer burial containers, or other goods sold by the funeral home.  The only warranties, express or implied, granted in connection with goods sold with any funeral service are the express written warranties, if any, extended by the manufacturers thereof.  Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home, Inc. hereby expressly disclaims all warranties, expressed or implied, including, but not limited to, the implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
 

This is a package of services.  This package may only be purchased by families purchasing a “policy funeral” as provided by the Burial Insurance Policy.  The services included are all those items of service described in items 1 through 11 of this General Price List which are not provided by the Burial Insurance Policy as interpreted by the United States District Court in Edgar H. Battle vs Liberty National Life Insurance Company.  Included in this charge are overhead expenses relative to our facility such as insurance, maintenance, and utility expenses, secretarial and administra­tive costs, and equipment and inventory expenses. However, this package does not include any services not performed by Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home, Inc.  Neither this package nor items 1 through 11 above include certain services commonly associated with a funeral such as cemetery fees, certified copies of the Death Certificate, hairdressing, excess mileage, organist, flowers, vault truck, or gratuity to clergy.
