Allie Malene Williams

Allie Malene Williams, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home on August 30, 2026, after a brief illness. Born on December 1, 1936, in Selma, Alabama, she was the beloved daughter of Allie Huett Gray and Walter J. Gray.

Allie was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 47 years, John "Jesse" Williams, her loving parents, and her siblings Herbie Gray, James Gray, Urell Gray, Eloyce Prickett, Olis Prickett, and Adolph Prickett. Her legacy lives on through her daughter Melanie Smith; her grandchildren Jessica Persinger (Jason Persinger), Alisha Sampson (Andy Sampson), Brianna Wilde (Nathaniel Altare), and Joshua Smith; and her great-grandchildren Carly Persinger, Derby Sampson, Elijah Sampson, and Enid Altare.

Her early years were spent in Selma, where she worked at the Selma Cigar Factory and later as a bookkeeper at the Selma Tractor Company. After relocating to Pensacola, Florida, Allie began serving as a caregiver for infants and toddlers at the WEE Center, where her nurturing spirit touched countless young lives and their families.

For the past 23 years, Allie was an active and cherished member of Myrtle Grove Baptist Church. Her time with the church's senior group, The Keenagers, brought her immense joy, as did her weekly lunches filled with laughter and fellowship with her closest friends. Allie had a profound love for Southern Gospel music, which often filled her home with warmth and comfort.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 1:00pm - 3:00pm at Faith Chapel on Beverly Parkway in Pensacola. A service to celebrate Allie's remarkable life will be held on September 4, 2026, at 2:00pm at Lawrence Funeral Home in Selma, Alabama. Friends may call prior to service at 1:00pm. Serving as pallbearers are Joshua Smith (grandson), Jason Persinger (grandson-in-law), Andy Sampson (grandson-in-law), Derby Sampson (great-grandson), Alan Caver (Nephew), and Elijah Caver (Nephew). There will also be a memorial service at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church at a later date to be announced.
