Listen to Obituary

Ann Denson Brackin, a lifelong resident of Selma, Alabama, entered the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on November 29, 2025, at the remarkable age of 100. Born on March 9, 1925, in Selma, she was the cherished daughter of Kathleen McKibbon Denson and William Quitman Denson.

Survivors include her children: Pam (Roger) Stewart, Kathy Lewis Oliver, and Lane (Bradford) Brackin; her grandchildren: Dayne (Lisa) Massey, Jennifer Ann May, Camille (Clif) Deer, Meghan (Gabriel) Lopez, Sam (Natalie) Brackin, and Will Brackin; and her great-grandchildren: Henley Hughes, Parker (Whitney) Hughes, Ashley (Rob) Wallis, Mary Peyton (Adam) Greene, Lydia (Connor) McFaden, Violet Lopez and Fiona Lopez. She is also survived by eight great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her beloved husband, Bill Brackin; her sister, Amelia Denson Miller; her brothers, William Quitman Denson, Jr. and Lloyd McKibbon Denson; and her first husband, William Henry Lewis.

A life marked by steadfast faith defined Ann’s journey. Her greatest joy—her defining identity—was her relationship with Jesus Christ. She did not simply believe in Him; she walked with Him, trusted Him, and joyfully shared Him. To encounter Ann was to hear, without hesitation or apology, about the goodness, mercy, and saving grace of “her Jesus,” whom she loved with every breath. In her later years at Park Place Assisted Living, she felt a deep calling to minister to those around her—residents, caretakers, nurses, and visitors alike. She considered every conversation an opportunity to point someone toward the hope she found in Christ. Her boldness was never harsh; it was warm, sincere, and rooted in her desire for everyone she met to know the peace she carried.

Gifted in many ways, Ann was an avid gardener. Alongside her husband, Bill, she joyfully served the Selma community through their work at Lakeview Nursery, cultivating beauty in yards and gardens across the region. She was a talented floral designer whose arrangements graced the sanctuary of First Baptist Church for many years, each display an expression of worship and creativity.

Known affectionately as Momann by her grandchildren, Ann was beautiful in every sense of the word—gracious, kindhearted, generous, and deeply loving. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, and grace that will continue to bloom in the lives of all who were blessed to know her.

She was deeply grateful for the devoted care of her niece, Susan Newton, whose presence and companionship were a daily comfort. The family also extends heartfelt appreciation to the nurses and staff of Park Place Assisted Living for the kindness, dignity, and devoted care they provided throughout Ann’s later years.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
