Ann Reynolds Gaston

Ann Reynolds Gaston went home to the Lord on September 23, 2026 after a lengthy illness. She was born in Selma, Alabama on January 21, 1939 to Val Taylor Reynolds, Sr. and Jessie Pardue Reynolds. She was a resident of Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, and her husbands, Evie Winston Smith, Sr. and Jodie M. (Jim) Gaston; her sister, Barbara Reynolds Garris; her infant granddaughter, Hannah Carroll; her son-in-laws, Martin Scroggins and Thomas Leavens; her daughter-in-law Noel Luis Smith; her bother-in-law, Leo Kurchan and special friend, Alston Keith.

She is survived by her daughters, Verna Smith Scroggins, Jennifer Smith (Joseph) Carroll; her sons, Evie Winston “Rusty” Smith, Jr., Jeffrey Vann Smith and Anthony Reynolds (Angala) Smith; her grandchildren, Taylor Martin (Megan) Scroggins, Austen (Alison) Scroggins, Gorio Smith, James Smith, Steven LaVance, Zachary (Louise) Carroll, Elaine Carroll and Courtney Smith; her brothers, Val Taylor Reynolds, Jr. and James Michael (Lisa) Reynolds. She is also survived by a number of cousins, nieces, great grandchildren, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2026, 2:00 p.m. at Pisgah Presbyterian Church, 3061 Dallas County Road 44 (Old Marion Junction Road) in the Potter Station Community near Selma with Reverend Ira Blanchard officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.
