Betty June Smith Swindle passed away August 9, 2025 at the age of 92. She was born in Ponta, Texas on June 25, 1933 to the late Gordon Smith and Lillie Mae Tooley Smith.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, William Edison "Ed" Swindle; brother, Virgil Smith and sister, Rose Jones.
Betty dedicated herself to nurturing her home. One of her most beloved traditions was making the best chocolate peanut candy every Christmas, a delightful treat thoroughly enjoyed by her family. An avid reader, Betty had an insatiable thirst for knowledge and stories. When she wasn’t reading, you could find her diligently working on crossword puzzles. Betty cherished the soothing melodies of gospel music, which served as a reminder of her deep faith and the many blessings she counted daily.
She is survived by her children, Polly (Danny) Hightower, Jean (Chris) Tidwell and Forrest (Crystal) Swindle; grandchildren, Josh (Amelia) Swindle, Jake Swindle and Zack Harrison; great-granddaughter, Katherine Swindle; brother, Billy Joe Smith; sisters-in-law, Joyce Swindle and Lorene Hill and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home At Pineview in Valley Grande with Bro. Jerry Sanders officiating. She will be laid to rest at Pineview Memory Gardens, next to her husband. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home in Valley Grande.
Pallbearers will be George Sides, Josh Swindle, Zack Harrison, Jake Swindle, Jimmy Franks and Dale Boswell.
The family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers at Park Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Traditions Hospice of Selma.
