Brittie Jean (Manderson) Hartline passed away June 25, 2026, at the age of 93. She was born September 11, 1932, in Selma, Alabama to the late Benjamin Britt and Arcola Cox Manderson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Pat Hartline and sister Mary Edna (Manderson) Haggard.
Brittie is survived by her daughter Suzanne (Ramón) Cantu, their children Dr. Sara, Thomas and Travis Cantu, son James (Jeanne) Hartline and their children JP, Jennifer and Jessica, son Britt Hartline and great-grandchildren Lena and Milo Hartline.
Growing up during the Great Depression and World War II gave Brittie determination and love for her family and others that would shape her life. As the daughter of a nurse, she became one herself. She was the first of her family to attend college and graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1955 with a degree in nursing. While in Birmingham she met her future husband Pat Hartline and they were married in Selma in October 1955. In the following years she and Pat began raising a family and moved to Dallas in 1965 with two babies in tow. In 1972 she began a new career as a realtor for Tom Jackson and Son Realtors in Richardson, Texas. After a short time Ebby Halliday Realtors came calling and Brittie answered. This began a 40-plus year run as an award-winning realtor which culminated in Brittie being a Diamond Circle award recipient for over 25 years.
In retirement, Brittie enjoyed traveling and re-connecting with old friends from her school years. Always proud of the achievements of her children and grandchildren, she joyfully shared stories and photographs. Both she and husband Pat were avid supporters of the Dallas Arboretum, the ASPCA and the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. While at CC Young she served as Resident Ambassador and always sought to make others feel at home. She treasured the friends she made in the last few years, loved her community and was always ready with and kind word and a hearty “Roll Tide” for those whose teams were not having such a great football season.
Brittie knew Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and counted the promise of Heaven as her greatest possession. She prayed earnestly for her family and always expressed a strong desire for her family and friends to come to Christ.
Graveside services will be Friday, July 3, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Pineview Memory Gardens in Valley Grande with Rev. Mike Wyatt officiating and Lawrence-Brown Service Funeral Home of Selma directing. No visitation is scheduled.
