Charles Ray Dixon passed away February 7, 2026 at the age of 84. He was born August 2, 1941 to the late W.B. Dixon and Olene Crane Quick. He was a devoted husband, father, and friend, whose life was a testament to hard work and dedication.

From 1964 to 2006, Ray dedicated himself to the craft of boilermaking, a career that would take him across the length and breadth of the United States. Starting his journey as a grunt, he climbed the ranks to become a respected superintendent. His craftsmanship was recognized and revered, particularly during his time with Union 104 in Birmingham, which he helped establish after beginning his career with Union 455 in Muscle Shoals. His commitment and expertise were complemented by his role at Bow & Gun Camp, where he forged lasting friendships over two decades.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ray found joy in the simpler pleasures of life. Hunting and fishing were not merely hobbies for him; they were sacred opportunities to connect with nature and create cherished memories with loved ones. His garden was a reflection of his nurturing spirit, filled with vibrant colors and life, akin to the warmth he brought into the lives of all he encountered.

Ray's legacy will endure through the many lives he touched with his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support. He lived life on his terms, inspiring others with his stories of adventure and his passion for the outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Nell Dixon; step-father, John Quick and grandparents, Elzie and Rosella Crane.

He is survived by his children, Kenneth Scott (Tessa) Wilson, William Wilson, Cynthia Dixon and Thomas Richard "Ricky" (Ruth Ann) Dixon; grandchildren, Karson Wilson, Jackson Wilson, Taylor Wilson, Hannah Wilson , Jesse Dixon and Whitney Whitfield; great-grandchild, Meia Rodgers; brothers, Thomas (Cindy) Quick, Danny (Donna) Quick and Mary Strickland and a host of nieces and nephews.
