Listen to Obituary

Charles Allen Wilkinson Sr. passed away October 27, 2026, at the age of 86. He was born March 15, 1940, to the late Herbert Hall Wilkinson, Jr. and Dorothy Calhoun Wilkinson.

Allen graduated from Wilcox County High School in 1958 and attended Auburn University, where he was affiliated with the Kappa Alpha Order. He was especially proud of his grandson, Martin, becoming a KA at Auburn this fall. Allen had a great love for Auburn University and the Big 3 sports; there he made many dear friends while attending football and baseball games.

Allen worked in the family cattle business and then on his own into the early 1980’s. The commodity market bust in the early 80’s drove him out of the cattle business. However, that market action piqued his interest in what happened and why. He realized he could have saved the operation through futures hedging. That realization led to a successful career in commodity futures trading, while also overseeing the land and timber management of the family’s land holdings.

The family is sincerely grateful for the compassionate care of Dr. Nick Knight and the nurses of SouthernCare New Beacon Hospice. A special thank you to Johnny “Shine” Tripp, a lifelong family employee and friend, for his special care and sitting with Allen.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Hall Wilkinson, Jr and Dorothy Calhoun Wilkinson.

He is survived by his son, Charles Allen (Misty) Wilkinson II; grandchildren, Alison Michelle "Allie" Wilkinson and Martin Allen Wilkinson; great-grandson, Henry Banks Wilkinson; sister, Dorothy Wilkinson (Stuart) Hankins; nephews, Vaughn Allen (Meredith) Hankins and Matthew Gaston Hankins.
