Clayton Wayne Downs

Clayton Wayne Downs passed away April 9, 2026 at the age of 70. He was born June 21, 1955 and raised by his grandparents, late E.T. Downs, Sr. and Evolene Downs.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jacqueline B. Downs; father, Sterline C. Downs; brother, Kenneth Downs; brothers-in-law, Donnie Lynn and Jimmy (Judy) Harris and sister-in-law, Brenda Delois Harris.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Donna Downs; children, Jeremy (Rachel) Downs and Joy (Chris) Friday; grandchildren, Drew (Regan) Friday, Wesley Friday, Ethan Tanner, Hailey Tanner, Waker Friday, Hunter Downs and Rebecca Downs; great-grandchildren, Carter Friday; pets, Abby and Bama; sisters, Vivian Lynn, Annette (Tony) Threadgill, Melba (Phillip) Morris; brother, Frankie Downs and brother-in-law, Kenneth (Roberta) Harris and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Northside Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Blake officiating. Interment will follow at Pineview Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home of Selma.

Pallbearers will be Brian Harris, Tucker Harris, Jason Threadgill, Brandon Threadgill, Keith Norsworthy and Drew Friday. Honorary pallbearers will be Northside Baptist Church's Deacons.

The family would also like to extend a special thanks to SouthernCare New Beacon Hospice, Debra Finley, Jeanette Lee, Rex Thompson, Berry Vines, Jerry Smith, Mike Wyatt, Ken Smith, Keith Norsworthy for all of their care they have given to Wayne and his family.
