Derrell DeVon Lawrence

Derrell DeVon Lawrence passed away March 22, 2026 at the age of 93. He was born October 31, 1932 to the late Luther Byrd and Consue Lawrence.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life for 42 years, Linda (Beverly) Lawrence; brothers, L.B. Lawrence, Thomas Collins and Homer Jack Collins; sisters, Mattie Jim Matthews, Louise Ayotte and Mildred Mitchell.

He is survived by his daughter, Teresa (Mark) Sewell; sons, Keith (Rhonda) Lawrence and Kevin Lawrence; grandson, Christopher (Emilee) Sewell and granddaughter, Caitlyn (Wil) Tipton; four great-grandchildren, Addison Sewell, Mara Sewell, Madison Tipton and Noah Tipton and a host of nieces and nephews.

He not only took care of his family, but at an early age, after his daddy passed away he took care of his mother and sisters. He was a loving and giving man, always loving his family so well. Anyone who was in need would be right beside them, lending a helping hand. His family is forever thankful to God that he chose this man for them to call their Daddy and Paw Paw.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Wyatt officiating. Interment will follow at New Live Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Selma.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Sewell, Wil Tipton, Brian Hollis, John Sewell, Doug Nichols and Anthony Gray. Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Jones, Mike Smith, Robert Caver and Lonnie Smith.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to SouthernCare New Beacon Hospice for walking them through this journey.
