Donald Edgar Ballard passed away peacefully January 23, 2026 at the age of 68, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born June 29, 1957 to the late Libby Jean Wilkerson Ballard and Parham Booker Ballard.
Don was a remarkable individual whose quiet demeanor belied the strength and dedication he demonstrated throughout his life's work and passions. Throughout his career, Don dedicated himself to his work, spending many years as a pipefitter, welder, and millwright at Daniels. His work ethic was unmatched, and he later retired from Sabic, where he served as a chemical operator.
Don was known for his strength, both physical and character-driven. In his youthful days, he was recognized as a formidable boxer and gained respect for his resilience, often remembered as a strong man despite his shorter stature. He also showcased his dynamic spirit by working as a bouncer at Charlie Brown's.
With a quiet and simple personality, Donald found joy in the little things. He had a deep love for animals, raising and caring for a variety of wildlife, including raccoons, pigs, quail, and fish in aquariums. Animals brought him happiness, and he devoted much of his time to nurturing them, reflecting his compassionate heart. He loved his dogs, Molly and Boo Boo, dearly. Though he once swore he would never have an inside pet, his heart softened with age, and they became constant companions.
Don was a lifelong member of Westwood Church of God, where he found community and solace. His faith served as a guiding light, and he knew God as his Savior. His devotion went beyond his personal beliefs; he revered the gift of family and took immense pride in the love they shared. His memory will live on through his beloved family, whom he cherished deeply.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Michelle Ballard.
