Dorothy Bearden Lovelady passed away June 17, 2026 at the age of 94. She was born October 30, 1931 to the late Monroe and Edna Perry Bearden.

Dot's love for her family was fierce and unwavering. She found immense joy in nurturing those around her. She took great pride in ensuring that every meal was a gesture of love, and her guests always left her home with full hearts and full stomachs. Fashion was another passion of Dot's. She had an impeccable sense of style, always impeccably dressed and radiating elegance. Shopping was not merely an errand but a joyous activity, especially when shared with her dear friend, Betty Jean Reynolds. Their shopping trips to Montgomery were often the highlight of her week.

She was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Dayton, until his passing in 2009. Their partnership was a cornerstone of her life, marked by mutual respect, love, and lifelong commitment. Though Dayton is no longer with us, the strength of their bond remains a shining example of devotion and partnership.

She cherished her children and grandchildren, who were the center of her world. Dot's legacy is beautifully woven into the lives of her family, who carry forward her spirit of kindness, strength, and dedication. She leaves behind her children, Randy (Gail) Lovelady and Terrell (Connie) Lovelady; grandchildren, Fran (Mike) Bruner, Ryan Lovelady, Meagan (Andrew) Jones and Haley (Alex) Chuplis; great-grandchildren, Hayden (Helen Ann) Bruner, Daniel Lovelady, Foster Jones, Elle Jones, Jac Chuplis and Bree Chuplis; great-great-grandson, Duncan Bruner.

Graveside services will be Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at New Live Oak Cemetery with the Rev. Diane Everette officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home of Selma directing.

Pallbearers will be Mike Bruner, Hayden Bruner, Ryan Lovelady, Daniel Lovelady, Andrew Jones and Alex Chuplis.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dale Peoples, Jeanie Thomas and Maggie Lumpkin for their loving care and devotion to Dot over the past several years.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Church Street Methodist Church; 214 Church Street, Selma, Alabama 36701.
