Errol Freeman Whitehead passed away February 25, 2026 at the age of 83. He was born September 30, 1942 in Saegertown, Pennsylvania to the late Walter Samuel Whitehead and Elizabeth Ann McCoy Whitehead.
Errol’s journey began in Pennsylvania, where he attended Saegertown High School. Shortly after graduating, he answered the call of duty and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. His service laid the foundation for a life rooted in discipline and integrity, as he was trained as an aircraft mechanic, a skill that would carry him through many years of his professional life.
After his military service, Errol transitioned into the workforce with the same determination that characterized his time in the Air Force. He spent many years working with a swimming pool company in Pennsylvania, learning the intricacies of the trade. In 1976, he made the life-changing decision to move to Fairhope, Alabama, a place that would become his home and the heart of many cherished memories. A few years later, he took a leap of faith and opened his own swimming pool company, passionately sharing his knowledge and expertise with his community. It brought him immense joy to work alongside his son, building their dreams together and forging a bond that went beyond business.

He was never one to back down from a challenge, and his steadfastness forged deep connections with family, friends, and countless individuals who were touched by his kindness and tenacity.
In addition to his professional life, Errol had a deep appreciation for the great outdoors. In his younger years, he found joy in hunting, often venturing into the woods of Pennsylvania in pursuit of deer, bear, and small game. These moments spent immersed in nature brought him tranquility and a sense of adventure, nurturing a lifelong love of the land.
Later in life, after stepping back from the swimming pool business, Errol returned to his passion for aviation, working diligently until his retirement in South Alabama. His diverse experiences throughout his career reflected his adaptability and unyielding spirit, leaving a lasting legacy of dedication and resilience.
