Fannie Mae Green passed away May 16, 2025 at the age of 87. She was born February 14, 1938 to the late Charlie Lammers and Emily Mae Lyles Lammers.
Fannie Mae was a woman whose very essence radiated warmth and compassion. She loved her family relentlessly, dedicating herself wholly to the nurturing and care of her children and their offspring. Her proudest accomplishment, without a doubt, was her large family, which she built alongside her beloved husband, W.C. They were married on June 17, 1956, and together they undertook the beautiful journey of raising nine children, who in turn were blessed with the gift of 27 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. This expansive family became a source of immense joy and pride for Fannie Mae, and her spirit will forever resonate within their lives.
Fannie Mae had a passion for life that shone through in all her hobbies and interests. She particularly loved playing dominoes and Yahtzee with her loved ones, moments that were often filled with laughter and spirited competition. As a true homemaker, she found joy in canning and ensuring her household was adorned with warmth and love. Her green thumb brought life to her home; she delighted in gardening and planting flowers, creating a sanctuary of beauty wherever she lived.
An avid lover of the great outdoors, Fannie's heart would come alive during camping trips. Fishing alongside family and friends was not just a hobby; it was a cherished tradition that allowed her to bond with those she loved, surrounded by the beauty of nature. Be it in the kitchen or the great outdoors, she sprinkled her life with joy and a sense of community, making every gathering a cherished memory.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W.C. Green; daughters, Barbara Green and Tiny Green; son-in-law, Mike Vanderford; siblings, Mary Elizabeth (Henry "Jack") Hallman, Charles Carson Lammers, John Dillard Lammers and Robert Eugene Lammers, Sr.
She is survived by her children, Billy (Susie) Green, Ann Vanderford, Linda Logue, Robert (Casi) Green, Annette (Lee) Tubbs, Tommy Green, Becky (Jimmie) Earnest and John (Angie) Green; 27 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Carol Lammers, Geraldine Lammers and Jeanette “Nett” Bourg; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and family.
