Florence Anne Falkenberry Knight, 78, died peacefully on August 20, 2026 at her home in Selma, AL. She was born June 23, 1948 to Eleanor Rennie and Roswell Leslie Falkenberry.

Anne was educated in Selma public schools and graduated from A.G. Parrish High School. She attended Randolph-Macon Woman’s College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. After college, she returned to Selma where she worked for several years for the Dallas County Department of Human Resources. She later earned a Master of Library Science from the University of Alabama and went on to become the Head of Archives and Southern History at the Birmingham Public Library. She was an avid historian and genealogist who also loved playing the piano and enjoyed gardening.

Anne was the widow of the Rev. Joseph Sturdivant Knight who predeceased her in 2023. She is survived by her son, Joseph Kirkpatrick Knight (Sarah), Atlanta; Stepdaughters Kay Boley (Ray) and Vicki Wagner (Stuart), Fairhope; granddaughters Madeleine Rose Knight and Lily Catherine Knight, Atlanta; her sister, Rennie Falkenberry Edwards (Thomas H.), Apalachicola, FL; her nephew, Christopher Alan Edwards (Whitney) and her niece Leslie Cameron Edwards, Portland, OR. She was predeceased by her parents and two brothers, John Croom Falkenberry and George Alan Falkenberry.

Anne will be remembered for her intelligence and strength and her love of friends and family.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Selma at a future date to be determined.
