On Saturday, March 21, 2026 the family circle was complete again when HC Weaver passed away at 100 years of age.
Henry Clellan Weaver, SR., was born February 9, 1926 in Allen, AL (Clarke County), 6th of 8 children born to JD and Bertha Dee West Weaver. At age 17 HC was drafted into the US Army and after training at three different US bases, he was sent to the Philippians where he received additional training in preparation for US invasion of Japan. The invasion never took place due to the use of the atomic bomb in Hiroshima. As a member of the 129th Field Artillery Battalion, HC was one of the many American troops sent to clean up the aftermath. After returning home from the war (with an Asian-Pacific Campaign Medal, a Philippine Liberation Ribbon with a Bronze Star, a good Conduct medal and a WWII Victory Medal), he graduated from Clarke County High School in Grove Hill, AL (class of 1947), and began working for Southern Railway Company. Trained in agency work and to be a telegrapher by his father, he retired in 1987, just shy of 40 years of service. HC then continued to quietly operate his cattle farm in West Perry County until a few years before his death. He enjoyed the quiet times sitting in his truck, watching his cows graze and working Sudoku puzzles, but delighted most from visits from his grandkids and great-grandkids.
Clellan was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Janelle McPheron Weaver, his sons: Steve McPheron and HC (Sonny) Weaver, JR., his sons-in-law JD (Preacher) Price and Mike Kynard, his parents, his seven siblings: Lucille Weaver, Louise W. Chunn, David Weaver, JC Weaver, Arvin W. Weaver, Viola W. Cutrer, and Julia Mae W. McClure.
He is survived by daughters Lucy W Kynard of Marion, AL, Sue W Price of Douglasville, GA, daughters in law Vicky R. McPheron of Aurora, CO and Connie Rhyne of Demopolis, AL; grandchildren Mac McPheron, Stephanie M. Lawson, Kyle McPheron, Michael Kynard, Kristen W. Wright, Jarrod Weaver, Casey Morrison, Tyler Morrison, Carrie P. Kolar, Hilary Clellan (Bubba) Price, Simon Price, Phoebe P. Sims and 13.5 great grandchildren (Clive, Elijah, James, Cooper, Ellie Kate, Link, Jude, Noah +1, Gavin, Anson, Lucie, Daniel, and Lawson.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 28 from 1 to 2pm with celebration to follow at Marion, Methodist Church, 110 Washington Street in Marion, AL with Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home of Selma directing. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Marion Methodist Church or Marion Cemetery Fund, 1806 Oak Crest Drive, Marion. Al. 36756.
