Ira Howard Godsy, Jr.

Ira Howard Godsy, Jr., age 90 peacefully entered the presence of his Lord and Savior on September 22, 2026, at his residence.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janet C. Godsy, with whom he shared a life of love, faith, and devotion. Born and raised in Van Buren, Missouri, Howard answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force in 1957. During a distinguished military career spanning more than two decades, he worked as a communications electronics technician, faithfully serving his nation until his retirement in 1980. Never one to remain idle, Howard continued contributing his expertise in communications and electronics before pursuing another passion as a master trim carpenter. Blessed with remarkable skill and craftsmanship, he found great satisfaction in working with his hands, creating things of lasting beauty and value.

While Howard took pride in his work and accomplishments, his greatest legacy was not found in the careers he built, but in the life he lived. A man of unwavering faith, integrity, humility, and compassion, Howard sought every opportunity to serve others. He never met a stranger in need whom he was unwilling to help, and he never missed an opportunity to share the hope, love, and goodness of Jesus Christ.

Howard did not simply speak of his faith; he lived it daily. His life was a reflection of Christ's example of selfless service, generosity, and love. Whether through his time, talents, encouragement, or resources, he freely gave to others the blessings God had so abundantly bestowed upon him. His steadfast commitment to his Savior shaped every aspect of his life and was evident in his devotion to family, friends, neighbors, and all those whose paths he crossed.

Those who knew Howard will remember a man whose character was marked by kindness, honesty, and a servant's heart. His quiet strength, gentle spirit, and enduring faith touched countless lives and left an indelible mark on everyone privileged to know him.

A private family burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan's Purse or The Parkinson's Foundation, causes that reflect Howard's compassion for others and his commitment to helping those in need.
