James Richard Motes passed away March 10, 2017 at the age of 63.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Mae Motes.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Virginia Karen “Jeanie” Motes; children, James Richard “Bo” Motes, Jr., Jason Daniel (Jennifer) Motes; Beverly Amelia Vastie “Millie” Motes; step-children, Brandy Biesecker (Robert) Depasquale and Haley (Chris) Athey; grandchildren, Sydnee Motes, Presley Motes, Shelby Motes, Jason Daniel Motes, Jr., Madison Mesel, Jackson Depasquale, Brianna Athey, MacKenzie Athey and Holden Athey; brother, William Lamar (Angie) Motes, Gary Jenkins (Sandra) Motes and Mary Ann (Clay) Ready and father, James Samuel Motes.
Funeral services will be Monday, March 13, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Stave Creek Baptist Church in Jackson, Alabama with Rev. Rod Rochester officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home, Selma, directing. Interment will follow at Overstreet cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home in Selma from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening. There will be a visitation in Jackson at the church from 12:00-1:00 p.m., prior to the funeral service.
Pallbearers will be David Motes, John Brown, Chris Athey, Robin Ready, Norman Clay Ready, Jr., Matthew David Motes, Lee Bender and Ed Wood. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the H. Clay Armstrong #544 Masonic Lodge.
