James Howell Stone

James Howell Stone passed away June 22, 2026 at the age of 95. He was born September 5, 1930 to the late Marion and Etta Stone.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Janet Stone; daughter, Barbara Barlow; son, Roger Allen Stone, Sr. and grandson, Roger Allen Stone, Jr.

He is survived by his son, Randall Stone; daughter, Bonnie (Mike) Fox; daughter-in-law, Jackie Stone; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and numerous other family members.

He retired for Phillies Cigar in Selma, but continued doing what he loved raising cattle and farming. He loved the Lord and his family and he let it be known. He was a life-long member of Ocmulgee Baptist Church until his health problems prevented him from attending. He was a Deacon emeritus.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 25, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Pineview Memory Gardens. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Carson Fox, Austin Fox, Chandler Fox, Bennett Fox, Dallas Prescott and Cole Dunkin. Honorary pallbearers will be Ryan Stone, Stone Gill, Ronald Gill, James Williams and Sawyer Brady.
