Jay Maxie "Max" Dempsey of Coosada, Alabama passed away November 12, 2025 after a lengthy illness. He was born April 9, 1937 to the late Francis Vardaman Dempsey and Birdie Mae Dempsey.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alice Dempsey; son, Jay "Packy" (Sandy) Dempsey of Orange Beach; daughter, Nancy (Jared) Giles of Autaugaville; grandchildren, Megan (Wesley) Thomas, Jaylee (Cody) Dempsey, Emily (Matt) Cook, Forest (Chandler) Giles, Kelli (Mitchell) Disharoon and nine great-grandchildren.

He retired from International Paper-Riverdale Mill after 38 years. His past time was making Max Cars Soap Box Cars for the Men’s Ministries at Alabama Baptist State Convention and helping his wife with crafts at R.A. Conferences at Shocco Springs.

A graveside service will be Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at New Life Assembly of God Church Cemetery in Maplesville with Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home of Selma directing.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to his neighbors, Ron and Bonnie Larkin for all their care and support these past years and the wonderful SouthernCare New Beacon Hospice and Chaplain Matt McCord for all his counseling.
