Johnny Earl Bennett, 72, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, at his granddaughter’s home, with his wife by his side.
Johnny was born July 19, 1953, in Perry County, to William Glenwood and Emma Bell Bennett. He spent his life as a hardworking man who took pride in providing for his family. He worked as a mechanic and truck driver, and there wasn’t much he couldn’t fix or build with his hands. Johnny had a gift for figuring things out and was always the person family and friends called when something needed repairing.
Johnny married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Bennett, on February 13, 1973, beginning a marriage built on dedication to his family. Together they raised two daughters, Jenny Bennett (Ricky) Agee and Lisa (Glenn) Bennett.
He is survived by his wife, daughters, and his beloved grandchildren, Jennifer (Brandon) Melton, Samantha Bennett and John Matthew Bennett, as well as his five great-grandchildren, Skyler Melton, Rylan Melton, Adalyn Agee, Waylon Agee and Kason Agee. His family was the center of his life, and he was proud of the generations that followed him. Johnny was also one of sixteen brothers and sisters, growing up surrounded by a large and close-knit family.
To those who knew him best, he was simply “Paw-Paw.” He loved spending time with his family and especially enjoyed deer hunting and farming. During hunting season, he was always after that big Buck. He took great pride in farming and loved sharing his harvest with his children and grandchildren, something that brought him a lot of joy.
In recent years, Johnny also discovered a love for baking. He took pride in making birthday cakes for each of his babies, and he would often say he was going to “build” them a cake for their special day.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Brenda Shelley and Renee Melton, for the love and care shown to him.
Johnny will be remembered as a hardworking man, a problem solver, a hunter always chasing the next deer, a farmer, and most importantly a devoted husband, father, Paw-Paw, and friend. His legacy will live on through the family he loved so deeply.
