Judith Huffman Friday

Judith Ann Huffman Friday, 77, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026.

Born on September 27, 1948, Judy was the daughter of the late John Welch Huffman and Doris Johnson Huffman. She graduated from Parrish High School in 1966 and built a career defined by dedication and exceptional service. She worked in customer service for BellSouth Telephone Company for more than 10 years before spending over 20 years with Alabama Power. She later continued serving others through her work at BankTrust, where she was known for her kindness, professionalism, and genuine care for those she helped.

A faithful member of First Baptist Church, Judy lived a life rooted in faith, love, and service to others. She was an active member of the Elks Lodge Emblem Club and the Exchange Club, where she formed many lasting friendships and generously gave of her time to her community.

Judy found great joy in traveling with her beloved husband of nearly 58 years, John Dawson Friday. Together they created treasured memories on adventures that included unforgettable trips to Australia and Alaska. She also loved camping and spending time at the beach, especially when surrounded by her family. Whether traveling across the world or simply enjoying time together, Judy’s happiest moments were those spent with the people she loved most.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved son, Michael Dawson Friday; her sister-in-law, Norma Dale Friday-Mallett and her brother-in-law, Larry Davis Friday.

Judy is survived by her devoted husband, John Dawson Friday; her daughter, Beth Friday (James) Beam; her cherished grandchildren, Anna Elizabeth Beam, David Michael Beam, Clay Friday, and Logan Friday; her sister, Mary Huffman (Dickie) Henninger; her brother, Bill (Lisa) Huffman; her sister-in-law, Shirley Friday; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Judy will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her generous heart, and the love she poured into her family and friends. She had a warm smile, a caring spirit, and a gift for making others feel welcome. Her legacy of kindness, devotion, and love will live on in all who were blessed to know her.

A Celebration of Life service will be Friday, July 31, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home in Selma. Interment will follow at New Live Oak Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home in Selma.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to her wonderful caregivers and SouthernCare New Beacon Hospice for their loving care. The family is grateful for the love, prayers, and support shown during this difficult time and asks that Judy be remembered by sharing the kindness, compassion, and love that she so freely gave to others.
