Julie Walker Drinkard passed away April 12, 2026 at the age of 78. She was born June 1, 1947 to the late Joseph Henry Walker and Blanche Krebs Walker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Earl Drinkard.
Julie’s name will forever be entwined with the history of Valley Grande as one of the founding town council incorporators. Her commitment to the growth and well-being of the city not only showcases her leadership but reflects a deep-seated devotion to her community. Through her efforts, Valley Grande blossomed into a place where families could thrive and neighbors could come together in friendship and purpose.
Those who knew Julie will fondly remember her quick wit and radiant smile, hallmarks of a personality that brought light into every room. She had a rare gift for storytelling, delighting friends and family alike with jokes that left everyone laughing. Her laughter was as comforting as her presence, a testament to her natural ability to bring happiness to others.
Julie’s passions were wide-ranging and heartfelt. She found immense joy in traveling, with her most recent adventure taking her to the beautiful landscapes of Italy. Even closer to home, she cherished trips to the sunny beaches of Destin, Florida, where she found peace and enjoyment. Music, especially the timeless rhythms of Oldies, often filled her days, and she found great pleasure in dancing.
Her bond with her high school classmates from A.G. Parish High School, Class of 1965, was enduring and dear to her. Monthly luncheons with these lifelong friends were occasions filled with stories, laughter, and the comfort of shared memories, underscoring the importance she placed on connection and camaraderie.
Julie’s faith and service within her community were profound sources of pride. Singing in the Choir at Church Street Methodist Church was not just a pastime but a spiritual expression that nourished her soul. Beyond her musical contributions, she diligently assisted in the church office, managing administrative tasks with grace and efficiency, embodying a spirit of helpfulness that inspired those around her.
She is survived by her daughter, Fran (Wood) Spivey and grandchildren, Elizabeth Allen Spivey, Allen Wood Spivey, IV.
