Karen Allen "Kay" McHugh passed away August 17, 2026 at the age of 80. She was born in Coffeeville, Alabama to the late Henry Bascom Allen and Jewel Mabel Oates Allen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. "Tommy" McHugh, Jr.; brothers, Joseph Enoch (Betty) Allen, Robert Henry Allen and Timothy Oates Allen; brother-in-law, Ben Crew.

She is survived by her children, Missy Palmer, Matt (Elizabeth) McHugh and Mark McHugh; grandchildren, Meagan (Hunter) Hill, Sarah Palmer, Anna Palmer (Ben) Stana, Thomas E. McHugh, III and Lilly McHugh and great-grandchildren, Palmer Hill and Mac Hill; sisters, Daph Crew and Betty (Darrell) Istre and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Friday, August 21, 2026 at 10:30a.m. at Orrville Cemetery with Dr. Jerry Light officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home of Selma directing. Visitation will be Thurday evening from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m at the funeral home in Selma.

Pallbearers will be Hunter Hill, Ioannis Liapis, Mark McHugh, Matt McHugh, Thomas McHugh and Ben Stana. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jack Burns.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in her honor be made to Hospice of West Alabama; 3851 Loop Road, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35404.
