Kenneth Harper Morrison passed away Thursday, October 1, 2026 after a brief illness. He was born January 15, 1941 to the late Mr. and Mrs. William James (Mabel Patton) Morrison.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Tay Morrison Long.

Mr. Morrison was a lifelong resident of Selma, Alabama, attending Byrd Elementary School and Albert G. Parrish High School. He attended the University of Alabama where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order and the US Army ROTC. Upon his graduation, he attended officer training school at Fort Benning, Georgia. He then attended Ranger School and Airborne School, also at Fort Benning, before receiving his permanent assignment at Schweinfurt, Germany. He left the Army with the rank of First Lieutenant.

He returned to Selma where he joined his family's business, Central City Laundry and later, Selma Steam Laundry and Dry Cleaners. Mr. Morrison served as President of the Town and Country Board. He was a past board member of the Selma-Dallas County Chamber of Commerce, a past President of the Board of Directors of the Paul M. Grist YMCA, a member of Knights of Revelry, and a member of Church Street Methodist Church. He "loved the outdoors, particularly hunting dogs and turkey hunting."

Mr. Morrison is survived by his beloved, Frances Turner; son, William James (Stephanie) Morrison III; daughter, Patton Morrison, MD; three grandchildren, Harper Morrison (Curt) Plaskett, Mary Patton Morrison and William James Morrison IV; nephew, Wiley (Christie) Long IV and niece, Elise Long (Jay) Ruby.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 3, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at New Live Oak Cemetery with Rev. Diane Everette officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home of Selma directing. A reception will follow at the Selma Country Club.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Lexis Neely, RN and those with VitalCare Group Hospice as well as Erica Pritchett, Mattie Harrison, Marie Barnett and Bethany Jackson for their loving care.
