Lacye Suzanne Smedley Story

Lacye Suzanne Smedley Story passed away March 22, 2023 at the age of 35. She was born April 28, 1987 to Rebecca Ellzey and the late Todd Smedley.


Lacye was known for her selflessness and kindness towards others. She had a tender spot for seniors and the elderly, and always went out of her way to make sure they were cared for and their needs were met. She recognized the value of their life. Throughout her life, she prioritized the needs of the least of us, whether it be through volunteering her time to help those in need or advocating for others. She was a selfless and compassionate individual who put the needs of others ahead of herself. Her dedication to service and her unwavering commitment to helping those in need was a testament to her kind and generous spirit. Her legacy of kindness and compassion will continue to inspire those who knew her, and she will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her.


She was preceded in death by her father, Todd Smedley; brother, Brandon Moseley; great-grandfather, James Woodrow "Pop" Smedley; great-grandmother, Rubye Smedley and step-father, Baxter Ellzey.


She is survived by her husband, Joshua Story; mother, Rebecca Ellzey; brother, Richard Moseley; grandfather, James Smedley; grandmother, Bonnie Smedley; aunt, Kathy Walker; uncles, Mike Smedley and Mark (Kathy) Smedley; sisters-in-law, Ashley Moseley and Shelby (Ty) Shaw; mother and father-in-law, Mark and Regina Story and nieces, nephews and cousins who were all special to her.


Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church in Jones with Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Per her wishes, Lacye asked that no visitation be held in her memory.


Pallbearers will be Joshua Story, Richard Moseley, Jim Smedley, Hunter Smedley, Stephen Zuercher, Owen Kilmury.


In keeping with her loving kind spirit, Lacye asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to a facility, foundation or an organization that looks after the elderly and senior citizens, just as she did.
