Lee Davis

Lee Morris Davis passed away on Friday, June 2, 2017, at the age of 60.  He was born on June 21, 1956 in Birmingham, Alabama.

He attended the Mountain Brook school system from Crestline to Mountain Brook High School graduating in 1974.  He graduated from The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa with a bachelor’s degree in public relations and political science.  He was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. He was an avid Alabama fan throughout his life.  He was accomplished in the fields of sports, politics, history, broadcasting, writing and was a published author. Lee was a man of faith and a devoted husband.

Lee is survived by his beloved wife of over 20 years, Kelly Anne Downard Davis; his mother Henrietta Ellen Williamson Davis; his mother-in-law, Nora Grace Watkins Downard of Selma; brothers-in-law Joe Thomas Downard, Jr. (Jane) of Brandon, MS and James Timothy Downard (Crystal).  Lee is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Amber Grace Downard Gray (Jason), Kelsey Ann Lyon, Alyssa Elise Allen, Corporal Jacob Timothy Downard USMC, Olivia Rose Downard, Samuel Joseph Downard and great-nephew Wyatt Reynolds Gray.

Lee was preceded in death by his father James Edwin Davis, his father-in-law Dr. Joe T. (J.T.) Downard of Selma and nephew Zachary Thomas Downard.

A private immediate family graveside service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 5, 2017 at New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma with Pastor Steve Blair of Church of the Highlands, Birmingham officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.
