Leland Ross "Lee" Collins, a devoted servant of faith and family, peacefully entered the arms of Jesus on March 27, 2026. He was born in Bessemer, Alabama on January 30, 1947 to the late Joseph Edward and Ruby Eberdeen Collins.

Lee’s journey began in the halls of McAdory High School, where he proudly graduated in 1965, laying the foundation for a remarkable life of service and integrity. His pursuit of knowledge continued at Samford University, where he deepened his understanding and prepared for a lifetime of meaningful work.

For 49 years, Lee shepherded six different churches, pouring his heart and soul into his calling as a pastor. His passion for pastoring was evident in every sermon he delivered and in the personal connections he nurtured with his congregants. It was more than a career—it was his true labor of love. Alongside this spiritual leadership, Lee spent 32 years as an insurance agent with Liberty National, demonstrating his dedication to helping others in multiple facets of their lives.

Lee's talents extended far beyond his vocations. He was a gifted craftsman, known for building numerous shooting houses, helping build the educational building at Enon Baptist, and countless decks. His hands shaped not only structures but also warm and welcoming spaces filled with laughter and community.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Sam (Ruth) Collins and Nick Collins.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Linda Collins; daughter, Lori (Grant) Winterberry; son, Lane (Kristi) Collins; grandchildren, Lyndsey (Logan) Smith, Landon Jones, Tori (Seth) Coleman, Logan Jones and Ashlyn Collins; great-grandchildren, Luke Smith, Lawson Smith and Scottie Anne Coleman; brother, Joseph (Joyce) Collins and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Pine Flat Baptist Church with Bill Bennett officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home, Inc. of Selma directing. Interment will follow at Enon Baptist Church Cemetery in Centerville. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Pine Flat prior to the service.

Those who knew Lee remember him as a very loving husband, father, and grandfather, whose quick wit and hearty sense of humor could brighten any room. His jokes and infectious smile were a testament to a spirit that found joy in making others happy. Whether he was hunting, fishing, or watching old westerns, Leland embraced life with a sense of adventure and passion, all while keeping his role as a beloved pastor at the core of his daily life.

He leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and strength—a legacy reflected in the lives he touched and the hearts he cherished. Though he has departed this world, the light of his love and the sound of his laughter will forever echo in the souls of those who were lucky enough to know him.
