Finally, she is also survived by her stepson William "Bill" Sellier Jr. and his wife Polly who had graciously accepted responsibility for Lucille and Bill's needs throughout the Selma years.  Many thanks from all the Jordans.

Lucille was born in Town Creek, Alabama on April 25 th , 1923, to Dru Hiran Lackey and Elisabeth Sons Lackey. The family relocated to Selma Alabama sometime between 1930 and 1940, where she later met and married Roland W. Jordan Jr.. Throughout her life, Lucille was an exemplary Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law, employee, workmate and volunteer. Lucille was always attentive to Roland’s disability, assisting him with all his daily needs. She was also instrumental in the development of Roland’s radio station WRWJ (which became WTQX in the 1960’s) in Selma during the 1950’s.

As a grandmother, Lucille devoted many hours caring for her two grandsons Shane and Austin Jordan, with afterschool pickups, little league practices and YMCA activities (not to mention her great Sunday dinners). They spent many weekends enjoying activities with the boys. As a Lioness Club member, she was heavily involved with Little Miss Pageant, Junior Miss Pageant and Arm Band Wednesdays each October at the Central Alabama Fair. Lucille was long time member of Church Street Methodist Church where she also donated her time with various volunteer activities. She was always willing to lend a hand. Years after Roland’s death, Lucille was fortunate enough to find love again and married William “Bill” Sellier in 1999. They were able to travel some and enjoy their golden years until his passing in 2017. We will all miss her enormously.

Funeral services will be held at the Old Live Oak Cemetery on Saturday March 18, 2023 at 1:00PM.
