Listen to Obituary

From a young age, Lucille dedicated her life to serving others. Her professional path began with pride as she worked for the Billy Graham Ministry in North Carolina, a role that imbued her with a profound sense of purpose. For many years, she excelled as a secretary, demonstrating diligence and an unwavering commitment to her work. Yet, her true calling emerged in her later years when she found joy in nurturing the younger generation at daycares, where her infectious spirit transformed the lives of countless children. Ultimately, she transitioned to sitting with the elderly, providing companionship and care that only someone with her gentle heart could offer.

Lucille was more than just a caregiver; she was a radiant beacon in the lives of her family and friends. Her smile was magnetic, and her character exuded warmth, making every gathering a little brighter and every moment a little sweeter. She had an unparalleled ability to foster joy in those around her, and her laughter was often the soundtrack to cherished memories shared with loved ones.

A devoted member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Selma, Lucille’s faith was the foundation of her life and served as a guiding light for those she encountered. Her commitment to her church community illustrated her belief in the power of connection and love.

In her leisure, Lucille delighted in traveling, seeking to explore new places and create lasting memories. She found peace and solace in tending to her flowers, cultivating beauty in her yard that offered inspiration to all who passed by. Her passion for antiquing also revealed her appreciation for history and the stories that come with each treasured item.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Alton Wade, John Wade, Louise Summerlin and Marguerite Bussell.

She is survived by her brothers, Wayne Wade, Fred Wade and Richard Wade and a host of nieces and nephews.

She will be laid to rest at Pineview Memory Gardens.
