Margaret Anne Hain Beers, a vibrant soul whose laughter and warmth touched the hearts of all who knew her, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on October 20, 1939 to the late Edward Moore Hain and Margaret McKinnon, Margaret Anne lived her life with an infectious passion for the world around her, embodying the spirit of joy and generosity.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Franklin Beers, Jr.; her brother, Kimberly Coleman Himes; her mother, Margaret; her father, Ed Moore, who passed away when she was four years old; and her stepfather, Charles Woodrow "Charlie" Himes. Following the death of her father, her mother, Margaret, later married Mr. Himes, who lovingly helped raise her and also preceded her in death.
Throughout her years, Margaret Anne devoted her life to her husband and children—a role in which she flourished with grace and dedication. She had a brief, yet cherished chapter of her life selling antiques, where her keen eye for beauty shone as brightly as her personality. Among her favorites was her special friend Kathleen Moore, with whom she shared many delightful moments.
One of Margaret Anne's greatest joys was her time spent in Orange Beach, Alabama. She found peace in the gentle rhythm of the waves, savoring not only the stunning seascapes but also the fresh seafood and local fare that the beach offered. Each visit was an opportunity for her to connect with nature and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.
Margaret Anne's faith was a guiding light for her throughout her life. She was a proud member of Church Street Methodist Church, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and Shiloh Baptist Church—her love for each congregation reflecting the depth of her spirit and connection to community.
Education played a role in her early life; she graduated from A.G. Parish High School in 1957 and attended the University of Alabama, where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. While her academic pursuits were significant, it was her love for people that defined her legacy. With an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel loved, she would often engage in conversation with friends and strangers alike. Her joy was evident in her captivating stories and hearty laughter, which could brighten even the dullest of days.
In her later years, Margaret Anne embraced the joy of gardening, lovingly tending to the flowers in her yard. She took great pride in nurturing life, reflecting the caring nature that permeated all aspects of her being. Even in her time at Winn-Dixie, she found happiness. Her sitters would often park her in the fire lane while they ran errands, and she flourished in those moments, happily chatting with everyone who approached her.
Affectionately known as "The Queen of Sardis," Margaret Anne had a flair for style and an undeniable charm that made her shine in any setting. She was a frequent shopper at notable establishments such as Roger Butler Jewelers, Swift Drug Co., Four Season's Garden Center, Reliable Cadillac, Gray's Furniture and Mark's Mart each visit fostering connections and creating memories.
