Listen to Obituary

Martha Jean Ealum, age 84, received complete healing from her Heavenly Father on July 23, 2026.

Mrs. Ealum loved many people during her life here on earth, but she loved none more than her Lord and Savior. Anyone who took the time to ask her would soon hear her speak of her precious Jesus Christ and the faith that guided her throughout her life.

She held many cherished titles over the years: daughter, sister, wife, “#1 Mama,” grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, Eastern Star sister, and polio survivor for 81 years. However, when her first grandchild was born, she became known as “Nana,” a title she wore with tremendous pride. She loved her grandbabies and their families immensely.

During the final months of her life, Mrs. Ealum resided in the Mulberry, Alabama home of her daughter and son-in-law. Daily visits from her grandchildren—whether in person, through FaceTime, by telephone, or through messages—brought great joy to her days. She treasured hearing their voices and seeing their smiles.

The family extends its sincere appreciation to everyone who made those special moments possible. You may never fully know how much happiness and comfort you brought to her heart, and the family will remain forever grateful.

A special expression of gratitude is extended to Melissa and Scooter Tyus for their help, love, and support. Simply saying “thank you” could never adequately express the family’s appreciation.

Mrs. Ealum is survived by her son, Percy Lynn Ealum and his wife, Sara, of Marion Junction, Alabama; her daughter, Anita “Cissy” Ealum Tanner and her husband, Terry, of Mulberry, Alabama; her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one precious great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Percy R. Ealum.

Members of her loving family will serve as pallbearers, honoring her through this final act of love and service.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Marion Junction United Methodist Church Cemetery in Marion Junction, Alabama with Bro. Michael Gillyard officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home of Selma directing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shriners Children’s at LoveShriners.org in memory of Martha Jean Ealum.

The family also extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who has reached out with prayers, calls, messages, visits, and other expressions of love and support. You are deeply appreciated and dearly loved.
