Mary Elizabeth Wallace Taylor Glass, known affectionately as “Liz”, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2023. She lived a long and purposeful life, leaving a lasting impact on all that knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey C. “Billy” Taylor, Jr.; later husband, Lloyd “Sonny” Glass and parents, Hazel Elizabeth Sewell Wallace and Ward Wilson Wallace and niece, Amanda Wallace.

Liz began her career at West-Central Alabama Rehabilitation Facility, providing care and support to all those she encountered. After 27 years of dedicated service, she retired as a client supervisor. Her warm demeanor and tireless work ethic made her a beloved member of the team.

In addition to her career, Liz found joy in serving her community. She volunteered with Vaughn Regional Medical Center as a “Pink Lady”, always eager to lend a helping hand with kindness and compassion. Her natural talent for sewing led her to complete mission trips to the Appalachian Mountains where she taught others the skill she loved so much. She was also a long-time member of Sister Springs Baptist Church, where her unwavering faith served as an inspiration to all.

Liz is survived by her loving children, Dr. Richard Taylor, Debbie Taylor (Billy) Kynard and Kristi Taylor (Elizabeth Heelan) Heaton; grandchildren, Aimée Hughes (Nolan) Baxter and Daniel (Sarah) Kynard; great-grandchildren, Jude Baxter, Jacob Baxter, Mary Bella Baxter, Kyleigh Kynard and Billy L. Kynard; brother, Randy (Cindy) Wallace and niece, Amy Wallace (Brandon) Massey.

The family would like to acknowledge with heartfelt gratitude Liz’s caregivers: Lynn Reese, Annette Rudolph, Sheila Murphy and Catha Patterson.

Throughout her life, Liz touched the hearts of countless people with her kind-hearted nature, generous spirit, unwavering faith and dedication to helping others. Her memory will live on in the lives of those fortunate enough to have known her.

The family will receive friends at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home on Saturday, June 10, 2023 from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. A private committal will occur shortly thereafter, where she will be laid to rest at New Live Oak Cemetery.
