Nancy Luker Breland passed away September 2, 2025 at the age of 70. She was born November 7, 1954 in Mt. Hollie, New Jersey to the late Jessie Willard Luker and Anna Louise Reitenour Luker.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Earl (Carmen) Luker; grandaughter, Lauren Wright; niece, Amy Irwin; brother-in-law, Daniel Lee.
Nancy devoted over 30 years to her career as an industrial electrician. Her expertise and skill made her a beacon in her field, and throughout her travels across the country, she made many meaningful connections. It was during her time working in Pascagoula, Mississippi, that she met the love of her life, Edward, marking the beginning of a beautiful partnership that would flourish alongside her rewarding career.
A passionate hostess, Nancy relished the opportunity to gather her loved ones for special occasions, particularly during Thanksgiving and Christmas. These family events were the heart and soul of her nurturing spirit, as she took great joy in ensuring that every guest felt welcomed and well-fed. Her home was a sanctuary where no one ever left hungry—her passion for cooking and baking, especially desserts, was legendary among her friends and family. Nancy’s laughter and warmth enveloped everyone like a cozy blanket, as she fiercely made everyone feel at home.
In her pursuit of nurturing, she also found joy in teaching others how to can, sharing her love of this timeless tradition with her church family at Praise Park. It was there that she poured her heart into both the congregation and the community, making lasting memories and creating bonds that would forever be cherished. Through her canning classes, she not only passed down her knowledge but also instilled a sense of togetherness, showcasing how food has always been a medium for love.
Outside of her incredible culinary skills, Nancy found solace and joy in her garden. She was a true jill of all trades, using her boundless energy to create beauty both indoors and outdoors. Her pride in capturing life’s special moments through photography further exemplified her zest for living in the present and appreciating the small joys each day brought forth.
Nancy’s vibrant personality, unwavering love for her family, and deep faith in the Lord shaped her approach to life. She embodied the essence of nurturing—taking care of everyone around her and ensuring they felt valued. Her support was steadfast, and her devotion to uplifting others will forever resonate with those who were fortunate enough to be part of her life.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Edward Breland; children, Jake (Sarah) Wright, Gabe (Cheri) Wright, John (Lisa) Wright, Daniel (Robbie) Breland, Traci Harris, Melissa Breland; grandchildren, Mason Wright, Logan Wright, MaryOwen Wright, Aiden Wright, Brayden Wright, Ava Wright, Easton Wright, Morgan Wright, Hunter Wright, Dallas Riggs, Alice Breland and Lyssa Chavez; siblings, Willard (Marie) Luker, Billy (Shelton) Luker, Bobby (Patty) Luker, Wanda (Larry) Cooper and Ruth Ann Lee; mother-in-law, Nancy Matthews; brothers-in-law, Stewart Breland and Ronn Scott and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Praise Park Ministries Church of the Nazarene in Valley Grande with Pastor James Kramer officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home of Selma directing. A graveside service will reconvene at 1:00 p.m. at Octagon Cemetery in Linden. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., prior to the service at the church.
