Patricia Leigh Montz

Patricia Leigh Moore Montz passed away June 29, 2026 at the age of 71. She was born in the Florida Keys August 21, 1954 to the late Charles Moore and Helen Leigh Weaver Moore.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dee Roy Montz.

For more than twenty years, Patricia was an integral part of the Selma-Dallas County Public Library.

Those closest to Pat can attest that her garden was her sanctuary. She found solace and inspiration among her roses, and it was in the embrace of her garden that she spent her final moments—doing what she truly loved. Cultivating beauty in the earth was more to her than a pastime; it was a metaphor for the quiet, nurturing love she sowed in the lives around her. Patricia also delighted in reading, forever curious and always eager to share the joy of a good story.

Her faith was a cornerstone of her character. Patricia was deeply involved with her beloved church family at Shiloh Baptist Church in Selma, cherishing the fellowship and spiritual growth she experienced there. Later, after moving to Greenville, she became a cherished member of Antioch East Baptist Church. There, she continued to give of herself, teaching a crocheting class and fostering new friendships within the church’s warm circle.

She is survived by her children, David (Jessica) Montz and Deanna (Wesley) Sahm; grandchildren, Rayne Katheryn Montz, Brodie Thomas Sahm, Emma Leigh Sahm, Trevor Daniel Sahm, Eli Stone Montz and Ellie Rose Sahm; brother, Bill Moore and host of numerous nieces, nephews.

Funeral services will be Sunday, July 5, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home in Selma with Dr. Bill Gardner officiating. Interment will follow at Pineview Memory Gardens. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., prior to the service.
