Pattie Hartsfield Bryant, of Selma, passed away April 23, 2026 at the age of 81. She was born in Marianna, Florida in December 7, 1944 to the late Charlie Willis Hartsfield, Sr. and Avis Oswald Hartsfield.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, Earl Powell Bryant; siblings, Benjamin (Joyce) Hartsfield, Elizabeth Hartsfield (Albert Leon) O'Brien, Ida Marie (O.L.) Cherry, Mary Anne Hartsfield, and Charlie "Pete" Hartsfield.
She is survived by her daughter, Missy Bryant (Marty) Roney, of Prattville; sister-in-law, Martha Ann Hartsfield and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at 11:00 at Shiloh Baptist Church in Sardis with Brother Gary Powell officiating. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Prattville, with Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home of Selma directing. Visitation will be at the funeral home in Selma on Tuesday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Pattie graduated from Greenwood High School in Greenwood, Fla. A beautician by trade, she served her clients for 55 years in Prattville and Selma. She spent about 40 years working in Selma where her clients became more like friends and family. She often went to homes, hospitals and nursing home to serve her friends.
She enjoyed cooking, particularly around the holidays, and her deviled eggs and cornbread muffins were hits at family gatherings. There was no doubt where you stood with Pattie, she honestly expressed her opinions and feelings. Pattie and Earl traveled extensively together in their marriage going to all four corners of the continental United States and a foray into Canada. She attended Shiloh Baptist Church where Earl was a life long member.
She professed her Christian faith at an early age. She loved God, family and friends. When she saw a need she was always willing to help, and give of her time. During the last years of their marriage, she served as a faithful caregiver to Earl.
Her memory will be cherished by family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Marty Roney, Zeb Daniels, Brett Johnson, Jamie Lewis, Myles Gagner and Ray Roberts. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Hartsfield, Robby Hartsfield, Phillip Cherry, Curtis Mott, Medford Pharr, Hugh Strickland and Cecil Wayne Strickland.
