Richard Jordan

November 14, 1945 — September 1, 2021

My precious Richard passed away peacefully in his sleep at our home in Selma, AL. at the age of 75.

He was employed by FEMA TTHU Staging Site (FEMA) as Logistics management Specialist/Fleet Manager From: 5 Jan. 2020 to 09/01/2021. He was previously employed by FEMA through Shenandoah Fleet Maintenance as a (Contractor) Site Supervisor from 2012 to 5 Jan 2020 when he was converted to Civil Service directly under FEMA. He worked for Shenandoah as a contractor for years in various overseas military locations.

He retired from the Army having served over 21 years, two full tours of duty in Vietnam, 11 years and 4 months as Unit Supply Specialist, 15 years and 3 months as Indirect Fire Infantryman, 15 years and 3 months as Motor Transport Operator, receiving numerous awards including the Bronze Star Medal, and was discharged Honorably. He was a proud Retired Disabled Army Veteran who loved his Country, His fellow man, friends and family with all his heart and soul.

He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents Anthony and Katherine Jordan (who gave him his love for the military by sending him to Military School which he loved and excelled in, joining the Army upon graduation.), his late Wife Rosemary Jordan and his adopted Sister Bernadette Jordan Purcel, who also passed away in early 2021.

He is survived by his wife Janet (Mayer) Jordan and family, his nephew Aiden Purcel. He was a wonderful husband, best friend (to many), devoted Dad and Grandpa, and he loved spending time with all of them. He had a great sense of humor and deep sense of pride and devotion to us all. He had so many friends, co-workers and family whose lives he touched each in special ways. He was a treasure to love and we will hold him dear and close in our hearts forever!

His Military Honors Burial Ceremony will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 5998 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218 on September 14,2021. Richard’s “Celebration of Life” will be held at Maggiano’s at 11AM in the ST Johns Town Center, 10367 Midtown Pkwy, Jacksonville, FL 32246-7409.

Donations in his honor may be made to you chosen charity.
May God Bless Us All.
