Robert Girlie

Robert Calvin Girlie went to be with our Lord on February 16, 2019 at the age of 70 surrounded by his family. He was born August 25, 1948 to the late Marion Robert Girlie and Eunice Watford Girlie.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Margaret Bamberg.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carolyn Benson Girlie; sons, Kenny (Saundra) Girlie and Scott (Stephanie) Girlie; grandchildren, Benson (Stephani) Girlie, Myranda (Jonathan) Langston, Kaylee Girlie, Landon Girlie, Ethan Girlie and Grayson Girlie; six great-grandchildren; sister, Betty (Stan) Walloga; brothers, Bobby (Peggy) Girlie and Ronnie Gill and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Calvin was a die-hard Alabama fan, loving family man and never met a stranger. He retired from R.L. Zeigler in 2008 after 44 years.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home with Rev. Artie Plummer, Rev. Scott Girlie and Rev. Jonathan Lambert officiating. Interment will follow in Pineview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Kenny King, George Baker, Don Elam, Kevin Jones, Ronald Gill, Bobby Girlie and Sean Kelly.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staffs of Valley Creek Dialysis Center and Baptist South’s NSICU for their compassionate care.
