Listen to Obituary

Robert H. Hitt passed away August 9, 2025 at the age of 59. He was born August 21, 1965 to the late Joe Havern Hitt and Dorothy Louise Harris Hitt.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Gladys Hitt and R.C. and Bertha Harris; step-son, Christopher J. Beverly and son-in-law, Cody Smith.

Robbie was known for his humble demeanor, often letting his actions speak louder than words. While he was a man of few spoken consonants, his wit sparked laughter and joy, particularly among his beloved grandchildren. His endearing ability to lovingly tease them brought warmth to their hearts, creating cherished memories that will endure far beyond his time with us.

Robbie's passions brought him immense joy and purpose. During hunting season, he would rise early, ready for the great outdoors, where he found solace in deer hunting. His pride shone brightly when he would recount the tale of the twelve-point buck he had taken—an achievement that showcased his patience and skill. In addition to hunting, Robbie found pleasure in fishing along the Alabama River, where he could be found casting lines for catfish and bass or engaging in the thrill of jugging. These activities were not just hobbies for Robbie; they were cherished pastimes that allowed him to connect with nature and create bonds with loved ones.

Furthermore, Robbie possessed the culinary artistry to transform gatherings into feasts with his famous barbeque chicken grilled to perfection, infusing love and flavor into each bite.

He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Kim Hitt; daughter, Adrienne (Omar) Vega; step-daughters, Elizabeth Beverly (Mariquez Pope), Serenity Smith and Mandy (Val Autrey) Curry; grandson, Luka Vega; step-grandchildren, Sean Pope, Rihanna Pope, Taylor Pope, Alex Pope, Cayson Threadgill, Brenson Threadgill, Jameson Beverly, Colton Beverly, Lincoln Beverly, Gatlin Beverly and Kaitlin Pappas; sister, Patricia (Dannie) Gaylor; brother, Jason (Kimberly) Hitt; mother-in-law, Shirley Wood; step-daughter-in-law, Susan Beverly; niece, Jennifer (Rex) Sheffield and nephews, Justin (Rachel) Gaylor and Hunter Hitt.

In his final act of love and foresight, he gifted his beloved wife a tiny teacup Yorkie named Jax, a faithful companion to comfort her in the days he knew he would no longer walk beside her.
