Shannon B. Oswell

Shannon Bates Oswell passed away June 23, 2024 at the age of 70. She was born March 7, 1954 to the late Willard Bates and Betty Lawrence Bates.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Oswell; niece, Ashley Burnette and great-nephew, James Johnson.

She is survived by her siblings, Robert (Dianne) Bates, Lisa (Roy) Farmer, Joe Bates (Shirley Sanders); nieces and nephews, Dewauna (Richard) Vinson, Darlene (Billy) Smith, Sean (Kortnie) Baxley, great-nieces and nephews, Shane (Amanda) Vinson, Austin (Haley) Vinson, Chasedy (Isaac) Warren and Megan Burnette and great-great-nieces and nephews, Adam Warren, Owen Vinson, Bess Vinson, Nora Vinson, Harper Hicks and Maggie Vinson. She is also survived by her beloved pets, Annie Bell and Kittie Baby.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home in Selma. A cryptside service will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at Highland Memorial Gardens in Bessemer with Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home of Selma directing.
