Listen to Obituary

Susie Tennimon Trantham passed away peacefully at her home in Millbrook on April 14, 2026 at the age of 76. She was born August 15, 1949 to the late Cecil L. Tennimon and Etoya Cochran Tennimon.

Susie’s heart was devoted first and foremost to the Lord. Her unwavering faith was the cornerstone of her life and the guiding light in all she did. Her love for her church, Safe Harbor Outreach in Prattville, was evident to everyone who crossed her path. For many years, she selflessly taught Sunday School to children, treasuring each one with a special place in her heart. Her gentle kindness and warm spirit left an indelible mark on those young lives and the entire congregation.

Beyond her spiritual devotion, Susie was a woman of incredible commitment and work ethic. She dedicated 30 years of her life to RL Zeigler Company in Selma, Alabama, where she was respected by colleagues for her diligence and kindness. Following that, she spent another 10 years working at Winn-Dixie, always carrying the same gentle and loving nature that defined her character.

Susie’s marriage to her husband Jim spanned 39 years, but their bond was even deeper, as they had been together for 52 years. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect, a foundation upon which many beautiful memories were built. Those who knew Susie remember her as a beacon of love, a woman whose heart was tender and generous. Her kindness was not just a trait, but a way of life, touching everyone around her and weaving a tapestry of affection and warmth that will not soon be forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Fae Williams and Rae Campbell.

She is survived by her husband, James"Jim" Trantham; daughter, Diane (Tony) Kaldor; step-daughters, Christy Prince and Laurie (Lewis) Hamlin; grandchildren, Tonya Hicks and Katherine Privett; step-grandchildren, Jaimz Trantham, Kenzie Prince, Haylee Prince, Jacory Hamlin and Alease Hamlin; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Bobbie (Don) Presson, Shirley Engle and Kathy (Ron) Gordon and a host of nieces and nephews that she loved very much.

Funeral services will be Monday, April 20, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Safe Harbor Outreach Center in Prattville with Pastor Greg Melvin officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home of Selma directing. Visitation will begin at the church at 12:00 p.m., prior to the service. Graveside services will begin at 3:00 p.m. at Pineview Memory Gardens in Valley Grande with Pastor David Nichols officiating.
