Vernon Gregory Lenoir, Sr. passed away June 14, 2026 at the age of 61. He was born November 26, 1964 to the late Edna Judson Grover Lenoir Morgan and Vernon Grady Lenoir.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, T.L. Lenoir and Ricky Lenoir ; granddaughter, Georgia Avery Lenoir.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lenoir; sons, Vernon (Amanda) Lenoir, Jr. and Hunter Lenoir; daughter, Summer Lenoir; grandchildren, Ethan (Payton) Lenoir and Mason Lenoir; great-granddaughter, Hartley Lenoir; sister, Connie (Michael) Longcrier; brothers, Mickey (Becky) Lenoir and George Lenoir.
He was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back without ever expecting anything in return. His heart was full of kindness, compassion, and love for others. He loved his family with everything he had and carried a deep faith in God that guided him throughout his life. He was a hardworking man who believed in providing for the people he loved and never stopped working, chasing his dreams no matter how difficult life became.
He also had a true love for farming and deer hunting, whether he was working the land, sitting quietly in the woods, or simply enjoying the outdoors - those things brought him peace and happiness. Farming and hunting were more than hobbies to him; they were a way of life. He took pride in honest work and appreciated the simple blessings God gave each day. He worked faithfully for many years at International Paper in Selma, Alabama, where he was known for his strong work ethic, dedication, and reliability. He was proudly serving his second term as union president, a role that reflected the leadership, loyalty, and respect he earned from those who worked alongside him. No matter how hard the work and how long the days were, he continued to provide for his family and gave his all in everything he did.
He had a way of making people feel welcomed, valued, and cared for, and his presence brought comfort and strength to those around him. The lessons he taught through his actions, his love, and his perseverance will continue to live on in all who knew him. Though our hearts are broken by his passing, we take comfort in knowing his love and memory will never fade. He may be gone from our sight, but he will never be forgotten, and will forever remain in our hearts.
