William Robert Moore, Jr., affectionately known as Billy, was born on July 12, 1951, and passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025. At the age of 74, he leaves behind a legacy that is deeply woven into the fabric of his beloved community.

Billy dedicated over 30 years of his life to Harrell's Refrigeration in Selma, serving as a skilled HVAC Technician. His expertise and commitment to his work were evident to all who knew him, reflecting a remarkable work ethic that inspired those around him. After retiring, he embraced a routine that brought him joy, often seen enjoying coffee at Mr. Waffle in Selma most every morning and afternoon, where he cherished the conversations he had with friends and neighbors.

Education was also important to Billy, and he earned a technical degree from Wallace Community College, which laid the foundation for his successful career. His thirst for knowledge was matched only by his love for life and the people in it.

Billy was a proud lifelong member of Sister Springs Baptist Church, where he formed deep connections with his church family. His faith was a guiding light in his life, as he loved God and his family above all else. Those who attended services with him will remember his infectious laughter and warm spirit.

An avid sports enthusiast, Billy was a devoted fan of Alabama Football, and there was nothing quite like the thrill of cheering for his team. In addition to his passion for sports, he found solace fishing for bass in the Alabama River, enjoying the quiet natural beauty that surrounded him. He also loved to deer hunt and partake in the occasional squirrel hunt, always finding pleasure in the outdoor adventures that brought him closer to nature.

Billy’s playful side came alive in the game of pool, where he spent countless hours honing his skill and sharing friendly competitions with friends. Dancing was another of his joys—an expression of life and love that resonated deeply within him.

Above all, Billy was known for his friendly demeanor and his ability to connect with people. He loved talking and carrying on conversations, always willing to lend an ear or share a laugh. His presence in the lives of family, friends, and the community will be profoundly missed.

He is survived by his son, William Robert (Ashley) Moore, III; grandsons, Taylor Moore and Cooper Moore; brother, Frank Anthony (Sandra) Moore; sister, Carolyn (Robert) Dean and several nieces and nephews.
