William Milam Turner, Jr.

William Milam Turner, Jr., passed away Sunday, May 4, 2025. He was predeceased by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Milam Turner (Frances Stuckey), his wife, Rosemary Heinz Turner, and his sister, Sarah Turner James.

Born November 3, 1934 in Greenville, Alabama, his family moved to Selma in 1938. Mr. Turner attended Byrd School and was a 1952 graduate of Albert G. Parrish High School. He was graduated in 1955 from Washington and Lee University where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.

A life-long member of Church Street Methodist Church, Mr. Turner was a former member of the Alabama House of Representatives, a past President of the Selma-Dallas County Chamber of Commerce, and Chairman of the Board of Turner Motor Co., Inc.

He is survived by his daughter, Frances Elizabeth Turner, his son, William Milam Turner III and his wife Daneen, and his three grandchildren, William Milam Turner IV, George Edward Turner, and Maryanna Frances Turner, his niece Turner James Barringer (Victor) and his nephew, Paul James, Jr. (Shana), and his brother-in-law Paul James.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at New Live Oak Cemetery with the Reverend Diane Everette of Church Street Methodist Church and the Reverend Travis Barnes of Trinity Global Methodist officiating with Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home of Selma Directing. There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers and if desired, memorials may be made to Church Street Methodist Church, Traditions Hospice, or a charity of your choice. The Family is grateful to everyone at Traditions Hospice as well as Christine Browder and Gladys Powell for their compassionate care.
