William "Bill" Grover

August 24, 1935 — February 13, 2022

William Sherwood “Bill” Grover, of Jones, Alabama, passed away February 13, 2022 at the age of 86. He was born August 24, 1935 to the late Benjamin Harey Grover and Claudia Rebecca Davis Grover.

Bill was a Retired Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force, former Chief of Police with the Town of Maplesville Police Department; former Investigator with the Chilton County Sheriff's Office; former Chief of the Jones Volunteer Fire Department and retired from International Paper.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Jeannie Tate; grandson, Geoffrey Keith Bailey and great-granddaughter, Haylee Brooke Burks.

He is survived by his wife, Minnie Rasberry Grover; daughters, Sheila (David) Haigler of Clanton and Wanda (Scott) Bailey of Randolph; grandchildren, Christopher Haigler of Clanton, Christy (Terry) Hall of Clanton, Tonya (Chris) Scott of Randolph and Brandy (Drew) Wilburn of Trussville; great-grandchildren, Natalee Burks, Jaylan Hall and Jozie Hall; sister-in-law, Betty (Lenoir) Nassany; nieces and nephews, Sandra, Kim, Faye, Kaye, Benita, Missy, Hank, Karina, Mack and Angie and special sisters-in-law, Jerry Lynn Smitherman and Ann Rasberry.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Jones Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Whitehead and Rev. Rod Rochester officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery in Maplesville. Visitation will begin at the church at 1:00 p.m., before the service.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Haigler, Terry Hall, Josh Payne, Johnathan Payne, James “Shorty” Payne and Chris Scott. Honorary pallbearers will be Mack Rasberry, Danny Blue, Jerry Hayes, Bud Parker and Donnie Logan.

The family will accept flowers, or you may consider making memorial donations to Jones Baptist Church; 4410 County Road 16, Jones, Alabama 36749 or Wounded Warrior Project; P. O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
