Wilma Avrett

Wilma Pynes Avrett, age 92, of Selma passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017.

Mrs. Avrett attended Memorial United Methodist Church since 1956 when she moved to Selma. Besides her love of her church family, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling, and still loved watching birds and hummingbirds from her window. She will be remembered by her family for her kind loving nature and her unconditional love. Mrs. Avrett was the secretary at Parrish Junior High and a bookkeeper at WHBB radio station, The Community Action Agency, and Pee Roofing. She also volunteered at her church, the library, and was a Pink Lady for the hospital.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years: Neal E Avrett; and her son: Neal E. Avrett, Jr., of Ozark, AL.

Mrs. Avrett is survived by her daughter: Ginger Avrett Jones (Jeff) of Southlake, TX; daughter in law: Marianne Avrett; grandchildren: Allyson Avrett Hartman (Tom), Nick Avrett (Lesa) of Ozark, AL, Jennifer Avrett Boone ( Stephen Snell ) of Ozark, AL, Scott Jones (Kilie) of Norman, OK, Sarah Jones Garibaldi (Matthew) of San Francisco, CA; and great-grandchildren: Chris Spraker of Prattville, AL, Caitlin Boone and Jacob Boone of Ozark, AL, Aubrey Snell of Ozark, AL, Cooper Jones of Norman, OK., and Lily Jones.

Services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2017 at Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Kopp officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the church.
