Listen to Obituary

Ezeke "Zeke" William Lewis Jr., age 80, of Sardis, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025. Zeke was born on October 17, 1944 in Marengo County, Alabama to his parents, Ezeke and Birdie Mae Lewis.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Doris Ann Lewis, his four sons; Randall, Gregory (Sarah) , Frankie (Heather)  and Joey (Angela).  grandchildren, Tiffany, Brittany (Patrick), Ezekiel, Lakyn, Rachel, Hannah (Jacob), and Raegan and great grandchildren, Brody, Rylie, Wyatt, and Adley.

Zeke loved his family deeply and was proud of each member’s accomplishments. He was most known for his talent as a mechanic. He spent his career working as a mechanic for Phillies Cigar Factory. He traveled from Selma, Alabama to Tampa, Florida to fix machines that no one else could. Outside of work, he was most passionate about the sport of golf. He competed in and won numerous golf tournaments, even hitting a hole-in-one. When he wasn’t on the golf course, he could be found in his shop tinkering with old parts or building wooden stools for his grandkids. He also loved playing cards with his family; when it was his turn to deal, he was sure to pick seven-card stud with nothing wild. He was also well-known for the garden he grew each summer. He thoroughly enjoyed planting a large plot of peas, tomatoes, and watermelons each year for others to benefit from.

Zeke was a quiet man but extremely kind. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
