Margaret Bills

March 2, 1963 — June 17, 2021

Margaret was born in Atlanta in 1963, and has lived in Tallahassee FL, Louisville KY, Coventry England, Birmingham AL, and for the past thirty years in Selma AL.

She had many happy times in Montreat, NC, which she loved and where she enjoyed extended family.

She graduated from Vestavia Hills High School in 1982 and attended University of Montevallo where she met the love of her life, Joe Bills, when they were both involved with the musical program at Montevallo.  She was a singer all of her life! She was a member of Memorial Methodist Church in Selma. As long as she was able she sang in that choir, continuing her love of group singing from the time she was tiny, through choirs of all ages at church and in high school and college.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Harry and Peggy Bryan, and Leroy and Dorothy DuBard.  Her family includes her parents, Jim and Mary DuBard, brother David (Deirdre Giblin), sister Annette (Andrew Wang), sister-in-law Suellen Johnson, mother-in-law Lee Bills, Aunt Dottie (Summerville), Aunt Betsy (Bryan), Aunt Joanie (Bryan), Aunt Frankie (Waltz), nephews Ben and Evan Johnson and Shan and Nathan Wang, nieces Maire Claire, Sophie Grace, and Sarah Margaret DuBard, and great-niece Ella Johnson.  With all of these she was adoring and engaged as well as with many cousins and friends.

She was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease twenty years ago, and faced that challenge with grace and acceptance with the help of her devoted and steadfast husband.  She has surely been greeted in Heaven with a heavenly choir of the ones she loved.

A memorial service will be held in the Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 With Rev. Steve Kopp officiating. A private family burial will follow at Antioch Methodist Church Cemetery.
