Michael Blake

Michael Dean "Mike" Blake, 66, of Selma, Alabama passed away on October 26, 2019.

Mike was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on November 22, 1952 to John Everett Blake and Ruth Lechner Blake. He married his sweetheart, Lynn on November 19, 1977. They were blessed with three adored children and four cherished grandchildren. Mike finished high school in Defuniak Springs, Florida and graduated Auburn University with a B.S. in Animal Sciences in 1975. He was the charter president of the first Auburn Rodeo Team. Mike was a twenty year member of the Autaugaville Lions Club.

He spent his life in a career he was passionate about. He was a cattleman, a farmer and a good steward of the land. Mike left a lasting legacy in the many young people he mentored through the years. He and Lynn lovingly called these their 'barn and roping pen kids'.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, John Everett Blake and Ruth Lechner Blake and brother, John Everett Blake, Jr.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 42 years, Lynn Epperson Blake; sons, Beau (Tami Jo) Blake and Matthew Blake; daughter, Mary Laurel (Emily) Blake; sister,Tina Blake; grandsons, Asher Blake and Muggins Blake; granddaughters, Emilyn Blake and Marsielle Blake; parents-in-law, Sam and Bernice Epperson; brother-in-law, Josh (Abby) Epperson; sisters-in-law, Charlsie Blake Simms (John), Leigh (Doug) Hughes and Jennifer (Don) McMillan; nephews, Rett (Melanie) Blake, Jacob Epperson, Knox McMillan, Hardy McMillan and Sawyer Hughes; nieces, Denise (Jerry) Weisenfeld, Jennifer (Charlie) Turner, Richlynn (Kenny) Arthur, Hadleigh Hughes and Bailey Epperson; six great-nephews; four great-nieces and many good friends and cherished barn and roping pen kids.

A celebration of life graveside will be held at Ivy Creek Methodist Church Cemetery in Autaugaville on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Richard Lucas officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing .
