Robert Culpepper , Jr.

October 3, 1950 — December 12, 2020

Robert (Bob) Franklin Culpepper Jr., 70, of Pleasant Hill, AL, surrounded by his family, peacefully passed away at his home on the land that he loved on December 12, 2020.  Bob was born on October 3, 1950 in Pleasant Hill, AL, son of the late Dorothy Tate Culpepper and Robert Franklin Culpepper Sr.

Bob attended Carlowville Elementary, Southside High and was a graduate of Lowndes Academy.  Bob also attended Auburn University before returning home to Pleasant Hill to enter the farming business with his father.  Bob continued in the farming business for his entire career until his health deteriorated.  As a lifelong steward of the land, Bob shifted his caretaking efforts from tending crops to creating Oyster Ridge, an outdoor recreation area and wildlife sanctuary for the enjoyment of his family and friends.

Bob loved anything fast, and that love earned him the nickname “Bullet” amongst his closest friends and family.  He was a mechanical mastermind and his love of speed kept him perpetually occupied with racing, fixing and playing with motorcycles, boats, cars and anything else with a motor.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his wife of 44 years, Melanie; children, Jennifer C. Robertson (Robert) and Robert (Trey) F. Culpepper III (Elizabeth); grandchildren, Tate M. Robertson, Mary C. Robertson, Robert (Ford) F. Culpepper IV and Anderson (Annie) E. Culpepper; sister, Cecelia Smith (Frank) and a host of nieces and nephews and their families.
